2013 NZ Trip, Day 2 (31 August)

AUTHOR'S NOTES:
1. All listed times are given in New Zealand Standard Time.
2. Some words were shortened or abbreviated in the original notes to save time; this time you're getting the lot!
3. In my original diary notes I'd also put some things out of sequence; this time they're in sequence!

9:40am
COunting at least 50 in the Heritage Room; all from across Australia and New Zealand, chatting away about Gang Show and things; might as well do the same.

5:57pm
(The Saturday part of the) conference ran smoothly; all Gang Shows talked about their shows. Main points today after were:
Generation Y - how should they engage people with Gang Show
APRA / Copyright issues (how to get permission to use copyright material, and what costs and processes are involved)
Group discussions on how we can prepare Gang Show Production Team members for higher roles in, say, 10 years
Girls/Boys ratio - how to avoid a 70/30 (girl/boy) split (also a conference discussion)
Taken on a backstage tour of the Auckland Grammar School theatre; much smaller than the Riverside Theatre (in Parramatta). No fly-tower; a stagehand pointed out where sets were stored; long corridor behind stage led to a room for stage props and microphones, with a tape-line on the floor (cast members were not allowed beyond the line) and a friendly but firm reminder on paper to boot.
Taken downstairs by a Production member to the Make-up and wardrobe rooms. 4 classrooms used for Wardrobe; "cramped" room used for Make-up, and a separate room for sewing.
Now in uniform, time for dinner then a show. Had seen the show on the foyer monitors; I'm sure it'll look better inside the auditorium!

(I didn't write in my diary for the rest of the day - the next day's entry will explain why!)
While I was on my second trip to New Zealand, I kept a diary of much everything that happened. Some days I wrote little bits at a time; others I wrote a whole lot at the end of the day.

Well, you have to do something while you're overseas doing other things :)
